Influence of external openness on the specialization of the Peruvian agro-export sector

Abstract

This research has to aim the establishment of the influence of external openness on the specialization of the Peruvian agro-export sector; under the descriptive and quantitative methodology. The methodological tool was the revision of statistical sources to the descriptive focus; and the External Opening Coefficient and Revealed Comparative Advantage Index for the quantitative. Between the main results was found that the value of Peruvian agro-exports shows constant growth; being the non-traditional sector which has the best development. The trend to the external opening of Peruvian economy reflects a significant increase over non-traditional agro-export. The increase of the nontraditional agro-export has achieved, throughout the years, a specialization of the sector in the world export nontraditional agricultural products. In this sense, the external opening strategy by the State has been influencing the specialization of the Peruvian agro-export sector.
